Foundation Stone Laying for Khimti Project School Buildings
Chairperson of the Himal Power Limited Ms. Tima Iyer Utne laid the foundation stone of new building for Khimti Project School Public Education Trust amidst a ceremony at Kirne, Dolakha, Nepal. HPL has established the school in 1994 during the construction of the Khimti I Hydropower Project to provide educational facilities for the children of the people working at the project. The project in 2004 was registered as Public Education Trust. Today Khimti Project school (KPS) is the best performing school in Dolakha District and students from KPS are studying medicine, engineering, law and other higher education in top universities in Nepal, United States and Australia.
Some of the buildings of the school are from construction time offices and residential quarters. They are in a poor condition. Besides, the 2015 earthquakes had caused some damage to these buildings. After due assessment, HPL Board has approved management’s proposal to build 3 new earthquake-resistant buildings with appropriate facilities.
